Underprivileged children studying in municipal and grant-in-aid schools in Mumbai live below the poverty line and find it challenging to study once they complete schooling. Some of the challenges faced by them are –

1. Change of learning medium from Marathi to English
2. Lack of mentorship to guide them at early stage in schools
3. Lack of guidance and coaching to prepare for competitive exams
4. Inability to get financial support from family for fees, books, travel etc.
5. Lack of proper health and nutrition
6. Inferiority complex due to multiple factors

Each year about 50 brilliant underprivileged children in municipal schools score more than 90% and most of them need support to study further and realize their dreams.

With the aim to support these children, Hidush Foundation launched a scholarship program specially for brilliant underprivileged children and support them holistically through their higher education. Till now, we have supported 12 meritorious school children in Mumbai and 4 of them have successfully cleared the competitive NEET exam and are pursuing medical education. Hidush Foundation is supporting them financially for their higher studies as well.

This year, Hidush Foundation distributed scholarships to meritorious children from BMC schools who excelled in SSC 2023 examination. Next year, we plan to support 50 meritorious children with scholarships.
