The great use of life is to spend it for something that outlasts it.
Dharavi, Mumbai is home to close a million people. Yet most people who live there do not have access to basic healthcare. The unhygienic conditions in which the close to 700,000 residents live often make them susceptible to diseases.
If there is one disease that affects an average of 1million people every year, it is cancer. India has 1.8 million cancer patients but only one oncologist to treat every 2,000. This shortage of care further leads to expensive healthcare and in return a large part of the population that lives in poverty and is affected by cancer, is completely cut off.
How do we take care of these needy people? How do we give them the healthcare they deserve? How do we provide affordable healthcare for chronic illnesses?
Hidush hopes to align with a leading cancer hospital to provide support services for relief and alternative therapies to cancer patients. We are committed to connecting financially strapped cancer patients to quality healthcare. We also are working on making expensive care medications accessible and people in need.
At Hidush we believe that if people are given easy access to regular health check ups we will be able to add to their overall wellbeing and happiness. Through tie-ups with local doctors and clinics we hope to provide locality based wellness drives. Regular simple check ups like eye check ups and checking for breast cancer will be part of the wellness drives. Special focus on schools will help ‘catch them young’
Hidush also has plans to create awareness videos and programs for the need to simplify living in today’s material world and re-emphasize the old saying “health is wealth”. Hidush plans to collaborate with doctors and wellness experts to succeed in this area. Hidush believes that small tips can go a long way.
